This unique intensive course helps international lawyers who need to work on contracts drafted in English.

I have combined lessons on contract vocabulary with elements of law explaining the real consequences of using these words in international agreements.

During this workshop I also explain the most common mistakes international lawyers make when drafting in English, so that you can be aware of them and eliminate them from your professional writing.

At the end of this course in Legal English for contracts, you will know more about:

• how a contract is formed in common law jurisdictions when the parties have nothing in writing
• the elements that constitute a contract, either written or oral, in common law systems
• the legal concept of consideration and why consideration must be exchanged by the parties
• the nature of consideration and the requirement of value
• how the law of contract and the law of tort were equally useful to the lawyers in this landmark case
• some key legal English dictionary terms that are essential to practising commercial law at an international level
• This course explains common law legal concepts in detail, as well as looking at the structure of a contract from the recitals through to the boilerplate clauses.
• You will also have advice on accurate use of English in contracts to make sure no mistake results in cost to you or your client.
